Syllabus

The syllabus contains information concerning the overall organization of the course, the description of the course, a tentative schedule, regulations concerning the grading procedure, and further important information. Notice that the schedule is considered to be tentative, i.e. it can be the case that modifications must be applied due to time constraints and other unpredictable changes.

The MVC

The MVC is used to submit solutions for programming problems and to write online examinations (midterm and final). Please, register at the MVC in order to make sure that we know that you intend to participate in the course. Here is the procedure to get an account at the MVC:

(1) http://tom.cl-ki.uni-osnabrueck.de/mvc/
(2) Use your username from your RZ account
(3) Select "ki_2002"
(4) Password: "add_myself"
(5) Type your name and your e-mail address of the RZ
(6) Click on NEW_USER
(7) You will receive an e-mail specifying your password
(8) Use this password to log in

Important: After you created your account please send an e-mail to your preferred tutor.

Slides from Practice Sessions and Tutorials

Here, presentations can be found that were used in the practice sessions. Furthermore, slides from the tutorials can be downloaded. The material is considered either as a further deepening and a repetition of the topics of the lecture, a discussion of further aspects of a particular field, or a possibility to add material concerning helpful tools and techniques.

Assignments and Examinations

Assignments

The assignments are intended to deepen the topics discussed and examined in the lecture. Each assignment contains a deadline for submission (the default case are the practice sessions on Fridays 2 pm).

Solutions for some Problems of the Assignment Block

Some - though not all - solutions to exercises in the assignments will be placed here on the web. The reason for the incompleteness of the solutions is due to time constraints.

Programming Problems

Programming assignments should be submitted using the MVC. Each assignment contains a deadline for submission.

Examinations

Midterm

The midterm examination will take place on Friday December 6th 2002. There will be two groups. More information concerning the midterm can be found on the slides of the 6th practice session.

Final Examination

The final examination will take place on Friday, February 7th 2003. There will be two groups (as usual).

Technically, the final will be similar to the midterm. We will use the MVC and the test will be a multiple choice test. You will get approx. 30-35 questions that need to be answered in 60 minutes. The covered topics include everything that was discussed in this course except temporal and spatial reasoning.

In the case you did not sign up in the list of participants, yet, please, send me a note.
