What I (used to) do
with my free time

It has been years since I've had a proper homepage.  Partly I attribute that to the fact that when, as a graduate student, the web first became a small toy for us who had been hacking it (and when the NCSA Mosaic project still kept a list of "new web sites" that grew at a managable rate) I spent many hours that should have been spent writing a dissertation making up web pages for our site and writing code to turn the electronic newsletter LINGUIST into a web site.  Then the web exploded and our little toy became big business, my brother in law became the family web expert, and I didn't want any part of it.  Now things have normalized and normal people point out that they can't find me online and ask where my papers etc. And so, here we are.  A new web page.
