Syllabus:

Prerequisites: Introduction to Neurobiology, Cognitive Psychology, Action and Cognition I&II

This seminar will introduce how functional magnetic resonance tomography (fMRI) is applied in cognitive neuroscience. It starts with an overview on technical issues and discusses current state of the art technological advances (e.g. high resolution scanning). Principles of experimental design will be introduced. Preprocessing of fMRI data, GLM, and connectivity analyses will be introduced and put into practice with example data (homework assignments). Finally, advanced data analysis approaches will be discussed such as multivariate pattern classification.
The Blockseminar is constituted of 13 lectures, supplemented with reading assignments and data.-processing tasks during the Blockseminar. Practical experience will be gathered from a homework assignments to be compiled until one week after the Blockseminar. A exam will be held in the second week after the Blockseminar.
